Atalanta’s star striker Ademola Lookman has been named African best player of the year, while Mohamed Salah has been named in the team of the year.
The Confederation of African Football held its 2024 African Player of the Year awards in Marrakesh, Morocco on Monday night.
The award for the best player, equivalent to the African Ballon d’Or, went to Ademola Lookman, the Nigerian striker who has been in excellent form throughout 2024.
Lookman scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta last season as they won the Europa League, where he scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 final win over Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old was name Atalanta’s Player of the Season last season and has led the team to the top of Serie A this season, winning 10 consecutive league games.
The Englishman was also a key player as Nigeria reached the Africa Cup of Nations final. Where they lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast earlier this year.
Lookman beat other Register ufabet candidates such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi. Borussia Dortmund’s Seru Girassi and others.
Other notable awards at the event included South Africa goalkeeper Williams from Mamelodi Sundowns who won the consolation prize for best goalkeeper. While Ivory Coast coach Emerse Faye won the best coach award.
